Encircling What Endures, stag beetles appear as guardians and witnesses — symbols of strength, resilience and transformation. Repeated around the body of the vessel, they become a meditation on what survives: through change, through hardship, through time.
The warm metallic surface evokes the feeling of an excavated relic, while the rhythmic ornamentation and native insect motifs speak to cycles found throughout the natural world. Like much of my work, the vessel sits between artifact and offering — a contemporary object carrying echoes of older rituals and ways of seeing.
Created coil by coil over many hours, What Endures reflects an ongoing fascination with sacred object-making, permanence, and the traces of human presence embedded within handmade things.
