Threshold (Held in the Body)
A hand-built sculptural vessel exploring transformation, memory and the moments that alter us.
Moths emerge across the surface of the form as symbols of transition — creatures drawn instinctively toward change, carrying associations with metamorphosis, intuition and the unseen forces that shape a life. Positioned between departure and arrival, they become guardians of the threshold itself: the space between who we were and who we are becoming.
The vessel draws upon ancient ceremonial forms while incorporating recurring motifs found throughout my practice. Repetition, ornamentation and hand-built detail create a sense of rhythm and continuity, while the dark metallic surface evokes the feeling of an excavated relic — something precious, weathered and carried forward through time.
Created coil by coil over many hours, Threshold (Held in the Body) reflects an ongoing fascination with sacred object-making, permanence, and the traces of human presence embedded within handmade things.
